Hooty Hoot!
Hope all of you are having a
wonderful summer. I don't know about you, but I'm all 'sported' out.
What with the Tour de
France,
Wimbledon, and the
World Cup,
it's time for me to have a
Pimm's
and get down to glennmovie bidness. First and foremost, we'd all like
to give Glenn and his partner/manager Suzanne a hearty congratulations
on their newest addition to the Tilbrook/Hunt clan: Wesley Tilbrook!
I'm sure big brothers Leon, Ted, and Louis are over the moon and
here's wishing them all big healthy, happy love.
Personally, I think they should have
given Wesley an RV name like Bounder, Zinger, or my
favorite, Crossroads Cruiser. If Gwyneth and Chris can name
their kid after a fruit, why not an RV? I suppose if they named their
son Cruise Master Tilbrook, it would be but a painful reminder of 'old
yeller'-the 88 RV. (which is available for sale if anyone is
interested in making their own personal Glenn Tilbrook mobile museum.)
Everything is as Glenn left it. Old and falling apart. Actually,
that's how Glenn bought it! I KID because I love! The RV is actually
in good nick, it's just in North Carolina waiting for someone to give
it a new home. In the mad scramble for celebrity baby news and
pictures, Glenn and I have signed an agreement that Wesley will
exclusively wear only glennmovie.com
merchandise when appearing in public. He will only travel in the
CruiseMaster RV type baby stroller that I have designed, with MY
DAD: ONE FOR THE ROAD on the side and bumper sticker on the
back. Instead of a rattle, Wesley is learning to grip Glennmovie
postcards promoting the film. You have to start them young and I'm
sure Glenn and Suzanne don't mind Auntie Amy tutoring young Wesley in
the ways of GT:OFTR promotion. And, if you believe this, I have
an old RV in North Carolina I'd like to sell you.....
In addition to brainstorming on baby
glennmovie marketing, I've been filling up my time with Gratuitous
T&A. And frankly, who wouldn't? Before you think I'm being extra
saucy, I'm talking about
my new podcast. Yes, after doing all the radio
press with Glenn for the
DVD, I wanted to go back to my roots - radio. I was a pundit for
the BBC when
I lived in London and continued to do pieces here and there for them
whilst living in LA but I haven't really pursued the radio thing due
to all my energies going toward the movie. I asked one of my bessie
mates Tony Horkins to join me and we came up with the podcast which
can be listened to by clicking here:
Gratuitous T&A. We don't really know what exact shape future
podcasts will take, all we know is that we have a laugh doing it.
We'll definitely be playing more music and generally talking a load of
old nonsense. But since that's what people are doing on the radio
anyway, we don't feel so guilty!! We're still meddling with the
software and trying desperately to make my living room sound like
we're in a recording studio instead of a... er... living room, but the
rough and rawness of
T&A is what makes it so damn fun. Please have a listen and if you
want to download it in your iTunes, click Subscribe and it should
download quickly. Feel free to
email
us with your feedback!
Do you like to
Dick Around? I know I do. And, so does the band
Sparks. Check
out their new video for their song "Dick Around". Click here to
view:
YouTube - Sparks - Dick Around. I have a few cameo appearances in
the video. In the beginning, I'm the kitty in the black shirt. Yes, I
said kitty. We shot the whole video in front of a green screen and in
post production, our heads were cut off and kitty heads were put on
our bodies. I've now achieved my dream of morphing into a cat. And,
before you ask, no, I'm not the naked kitty playing the cello. I am
the kitty holding up the sign that says "MEOW" and the kitty
who is holding up the sign that says, 'DICK AROUND WITH ME SPARKS!'
whilst dancing up a storm. If you look close at some of the audience
shots, you might see me (with a kitty head on my body) waving my arms
back and forth and flashing the occasional rock and roll horns. The
video shoot was a hoot and such an interesting experience because I
had never been on the set of a music video before. Check the video out
and enjoy!
Speaking of enjoy - I saw Sparks play
their only LA show and they were fantastic. The crowd went nuts and
boy did they rock out. I saw
Joe Elliot of
Def Leppard fame backstage, slightly tipsy and madly in love with
the band. Who knew he was such a Sparks fan? He was adoringly telling
Ron and Russel about seeing them live when he was 15 in Sheffield and
how he was blown away then and he's blown away now. Joe was cute as a
button and never one to miss an opportunity, I handed him a GT:OFTR
DVD. (I carry five DVD's on me at all times in LA.) I actually knew
Joe was a Squeeze fan because Glenn was friends with the guitarist in
Def Leppard, so Joe was actually really lovely and excited to see the
film. He said that he loves Squeeze and that Glenn has one of the best
voices of all time. What great taste he has! It was fun to see a
megarich megasuperstar of rock get as excited as a little french girl
over Sparks - he was like a ten year old kid. Everyone can relate to
being a fan!
How many of you out there live in
Minnesota? Well, GT:OFTR is going to be screened at the
prestigious
Wild River
Film Festival in the twin cities. The schedule has yet to be
announced, but the festival features comedy, film, and music: the
perfect soup and sarnie combo for my film! The festival dates can be
found on their
website
and the festival seems like it's going to be amazing.
Al Green
will be headlining and the lineup is unbelievable, so please check out
their website and give them some love!
As for the film, we are adding new
reviews and features all the time, so do
check back often. There's a new
interview that Glenn and I did on the day of the DVD release
that's up now: BBC 6 Music.
I had just had a glass of champagne on an empty stomach before the
interview and because I'm such a cheap date, I was feeling a bit
tipsy. Boy, was it hard for me to say "Transatlantic Ping Pong"!
And, I think the host actually slips up and says that Glenn toured in
a mobile phone instead of home. Now that would make an
interesting film! But, I think I come across as a bit giddy since I
had done press all day and it was the day of the DVD release combined
with the champagne, well, I couldn't help myself!
If you haven't posted a review of the
film, please do so on
amazon.co.uk,
amazon.com or
netflix. Every little bit of PR helps. I hope some of the Brits
are able to catch Glenn live at some of his festival dates - always
check his site
for the latest. We here in the US are looking forward to seeing Glenn
on our shores on the East Coast in September. Sadly, all of us on the
left side are left with a Glenn shaped hole in our lives and will have
to wait til 2007 to experience the ROCK of GT! sigh. S'pose us west
coasters will just have to make due with the rather fantastic
GT:OFTR DVD! I hope all of you are having a great summer!
Keep Rockin!
